To-day’s Recipe DATE BARS a CASHMERE reader recommends the following recipe : — t( Half lb dates, quarter cup sugar, quarter cup water, juice and grated rind of one lemon. Stone dates and cook gently with sugar, water, rind and juice till soft and thick. One and a-quarter cups rolled oats, 1| cups flour , half cup butter, half cup light brown sugar, half teaspoon salt, half teaspoon carbonate soda, quarter cup water. Cream sugar and butter, a*ld carbonate of soda dissolved in the water and remaining ingredients. Roll out thinly, spread with date mixture, put a thin layer of rolled oat mixture over. Cut into lengths about one inch by two or three tnehes. Bake in moderate oven.
