Saturday Night Revels.—As a result of Saturday evening celebrations, John McMahon, aged 30, John Farley, aged 23, and Stephen Charles Gregory, aged 25, who pleaded guilty to being disorderly while drunk in Hobson Street on Saturday night, were each fined 20s at the Police Court this morning. Farmhouse Burned.—A five-roomed farmhouse owned and occupied by Mr. T. Farrelly, of his farm on Mill Road. Paeroa, was totally destroyed by fire on Friday evening. The lire had a good hold when it was discovered, and nothing could be saved. There was an insurance of £4OO on the building and contents. Mr. Farrelly will be a heavy loser. Unemployment Decreases.—A decrease in the number of unemployed is shown by figures supplied by the Labour Department op Saturday. A total of 829 men registered, compared j with 862 the previous week. Men classed as lit for heavy work numbered 662, and for light work 167. The previous week’s figures were 690 and 172 respectively. Men placed in employment during the week numbered 58, compared with 46 for the week ending August 4.
