NEWSBOYS’ TRIBUTE TO POPULAR STAR
THOUGHTFUL RICHARD DIX Richard Dix was the recipient of a curious “thank-you” letter the other day. It was signed by about 20 newsboys from the Los Angeles “Record.” Recently a small boy was knocked down in the street by a truck when vending papers, and lay near death iu the County Hospital with a fractured skull and limbs. It came to Dix’s ears. He, too, had just had some experience with a hospital and doctors, which has cost him 20,000 dollars. He sent his own doctor to the newsboy, had the child put in a private hospital with a day and night nurse, and generally saw to it that everything needed was provided.
