Woman and Child Killed at Crossing

TRAIN HITS MOTOR-CAR farmer severely hurt (From Our Own Correspondent) MATAMATA, To-day. A motor-car driven by Mr. A. Randrup* farmer, Hinuera, collided with a special train to Rotorua at mid-day to-day on the southern crossing near the railway station, Matamata. The other passengers were two Maori women and a child. One wi.rnan ivhose name is stated to be Mrs. Ruru, an d child, were killed outright. Randrup has a severe scalp wound. The other Maori woman has a broken liip. The vehicle was completely smashed, and was tossed yards from the crossing.
