FIGHT IN RESTAURANT

SAILOR AND FIREMAN Walter Ernest Arthur James Jones, a fireman, aged 29, was fined £2 at the Police Court this morning for fighting in a Queen Street restaurant. A waitress at the restaurant said that Jones was with a party of men who had been giving trouble and making offensive remarks to her. A sailor sitting at a near-by table asked why she was so upset, but she refused to tell him. He went over to the other men and shortly after that the fight started. Jones said that he had been outside when the fight started, but had gone in to fetch out a friend, and became mixed up in the fray. The case against the sailor, who was charged with Jones, wp.s dismissed.
