KILLED AND MUTILATED
LOS ANGELES WOMAN MAN FOUND IN WARDROBE GREAT SENSATION CAUSED (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (United Service) NEW YORK. Wednesday. A shocking murder was committed at Los Angeles. Mr. Frank Melius, a prominent that when ho returned home from a week-end trip he found liis wife’s body in her bedroom. She had been stabbed and mutilated. Mr. Melius says he searched tus palatial home and discovered a man. Lc«. Kelly, crouching in a wardrobe. Kell' was arrested and formally charged with the murder, lie was very incoherent as to what had occurred. Developments suggest that the uma ing crime may have been involved in the rivalry between several women for this handsome young man’s Kelly, who is 29 years old. is a meatcutter by trade. Apparently he often drove in his delivery car and paid calls on wealthy women during their husbands’ absence. The police interrogated a number of people who had been to lively parties with Mrs. Melius and Kelly. WOMEN DISAPPEAR Three women, prominent in club circles at Los Angeles, who are also alleged to have been interested in Kelly’s attentions, have disappeared from the city. The case has caused a great sensation. A negro maid says she served Kelly and Mrs. Melius with breakfast on the morning of the murder. She told th*grand jury that her mistress kissed her early morning caller. An expert stated to-day that fingerprints found upon the weapons which were used to kill Mrs. Melius are not those of Kelly.
