SEQUEL TO RESCUE
SALE OF A LAUNCH PARTNERS CLAIM DAMAGES (From Our Own Correspondent.) WIIAXGAREI. To-day. As a sequel to the rescue of thn* men from the fishing launch Ika by the Niagara the rescued men appears, in the Whangarei Magistrate’s Cour. yesterday. John Buchan and Cyril Ledger claimed £256 damages against H. Jl Blackburn on the sale of the Ika, wtoe launch was purchased by the time men in partnership, Blackburn advancing the main part of the capita! After the launch was salvaged by Captain Patterson, Blackburn ptid salvage dues, and it was alleged sold the launch by auction to a fame: named Dawson, and arranged to repurchase it without notifying Ledger and Buchan of the sale. After the dispute had occupied the court for the whole of the day thmagistrate, Mr. J. H. Luxford. R« suggested the parties should arrange settlement as he recognised that plaintiffs were entitled to some share. lladjourned the case to allow an opportunity of settling it.
