THEATRE AT GREEN LANE CHANGES HANDS
BOUGHT BY HIPPODROME ALTERATIONS TO COST £2.000 Hippodrome Theatres, Ltd., are concluding negotiations for the purchase of the freehold of the Alexandra Theatre at Green Lane, and will commence reconstructional work immediately. An extensive programme of alterations has been drawn up by Air. I_>. J. G. Plumley, architect, and will be carried out by the contractor, Mr. N. Cole. Projected improvements include redecorating and enlarging the auditorium and rebuilding the proscenium. An entirely new lighting scheme is to be installed, and many other of tho best features in modern theatre designing will be introduced into the building. It is expected that the alterations, which are estimated to cost € 2.000, will be completed in two months’ time. The Kosie Theatre, Mount Albert, has also been taken over by Hippodrome Theatres. Ltd., and the first entertainment under the new management will be screened on Saturday evening. As with the Green Lane theatre, the proprietors of the company have expressed their intention of screening the best programmes available at Mount Albert, and will do their utmost to keep the standard of suburban pictures up to that of the town theatres.
