ABSENT BANKRUPT

ONE OF MANY “SMITHS”

When Alfred Henry Smith, a bankrupt connected with a touring concern, did not appear at a meeting of his creditors this morning, an adjournment was made.

Mr. G. X. Morris, official assignee, said that schedules had been forwarded to Smith, but nothing more had been heard.

Counsel for bankrupt said that Smith had told him that he had not received any schedules. Bankrupt’s position was complicated, but full particulars would be gathered. “The meeting will probably be held in about two weeks,” added Mr. Morris. “Smith alleges that, as his name is common, there may have been confusion with others in the street where he resides.”
