By the death of Miss Marie Novello, which occurred recently, England has lost one of the greatest pianistes of our time. She used to carry a muff containing a digitorium. This is a small, noiseless instrument with keys resembling those of a piano, and Miss Novello used to practise on it while walking in the street, waiting in a restaurant, or at other odd moments.
