“ANOTHER FAREWELL”
TT\ESPITE a series of last, final farewell concerts, Dame Nellie Melba has not definitely retired from the stage. On Tuesday evening, in Sydney, she appeared with the WilliamsonMelba Opera Company, as Mimi, in three acts of “La Boheme,” and also in the last act of “Otello.” Mr- R. J. Dickie, of Cheltenham, who was listening in to Sydney, heard the diva, but what was more impressive, he said, was the tumult at the final curtain. For ten minutes the noise of the yells and coo-ees and enthusiasm generally was deafening. Mr. Dickie has a powerful wireless set and picks up Sydney very easily.
