LAKE PUPUKE LAND
RECOVERY OF RATES The Takapuna Borough Council is taking stepo to submit a Bill to Parliament this session regarding rates on the Lake Pupuke watershed area. The council last evening adopted a recommendation that the question should be placed in the hands of the borough solicitors. The object of the Bill is to recover from other North Shore boroughs on a population basis rates lost by the council owing to a fall in the value of the land adjoining the lake. This has been brought about by restriction placed on building in the vicinity of the lake. The council, it is stated, will lose £1,500 a year by the fall in rates.
