MIXED RECEPTION

ADMINISTRATOR’S ANNUAL MALAGA CONDITIONS IN SAMOA (From Our Own Correspondent.) SUVA, August 2. When the Administrator of Samoa (Colonel S. S. Allen) went recently on his annual malaga (tour) round Savaii, his receptions were somewhat mixed owing to many being Mau, some halfMau, and others Government. Mau messengers went ahead of the Government party to warn Mau supporters when to expect the malaga party. The official party was well satisfied with general conditions, and were pleased to find that Mau did not hold power in some places where it was reported to be strong. There is a rumour that the natives are sending a further £2,000 to Mr. O. F. Nelson to enable him to carry on the campaign at Geneva, but it is difficult to state definitely that this is true.
