REVOLT IN TIBET

FIERCE FIGHTING DONE APPEAL TO BRITAIN MOOTED (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (United Service) Recct. 9.5 a.m. DELHI, Monday. While the Tibetan Government is successful in quelling a revolt in the Upper Poto district, the rebels are still fiercely resisting in the Lower Poto. They talk of appealing for mediation by the British, their nearest neighbours, in whom they have confidence, or alternatively to China, 20 days’ journey distant. If Britain is unwilling, China probably will be most willing to interfere. The rebels may be forced on to the Indian frontier to sue for peace.
