WORK. OF THE DEPOT At the monthly meeting of the depot committee of the Auckland Hospital Auxiliary, reports were received on the work of the sick committees. Atrs. E. J. Prendergast. convener, presided. The buying sub-committee reported having spent their monthly quota, on warm coats for girls, cot blankets, and materials for making: (1) Men s and women’s dressing gowns, (2) men s singlets. (3) girls’ frocks and boys pants, (4) wool for baby comforts. All the articles are being made up by depot members. The transport subcommittee reported having called for all parcels of clothing and foodstuffs for the depot in the various suburbs. The depot assistant reported that the month of July had been very busy and shown a great increase in the output of clothing and orders issued. One hundred and thirty-five cases had been attended to. During July, 1,626 garments were given to the dependants of the sick and needy; 132 garments given into the hospital wards; 24S garments to St. Helens Hospital, and 197 tp the Epsom Infirmary. The total for the month was 2,203 garments given out. A special vote of thanks was passed to the commercial travellers for their generous allotment of parcels from the “clothes drive” on July 14. Aren’s boots, sizes 7, 8 and 9, and men’s overcoats are urgently needed.
