Combined Dance at Takapuna

SUCCESSFUL FUNCTION Flags of all nations decked the walls of the Foresters’ Hall at Takapuna last evening when the members of Takapuna Ex-Servicemen’s Club and the AVaitemata Women’s Progressive League joined in organising a dance for the purpose of raising funds for relief work in the district. Bunting was used in the decorative scheme, and streamers of red, white and blue flaunted the patriotic spirit of the promoters from end to end of the hall.

Foliage and native ferns decked the supper rooms and red and white flowers appeared on the tables. In the absence of the president, Major A. H. Wilkie, Mr. Bryce Hart, one of the vice-presidents, introduced the Mayor af Takapuna, Mr. Julius AVilliamson, who spoke briefly of the object of the dance, and thanked those present for their support. Among the dancers were: Airs. Julius Williamson, wearing a cry- ( stal and blue embroidered frock of black ; georgette. Dr. H. J. C. Wilkie, the president ot the AVaitemata Women’s Progressive League, who wore a fringed frock of black satin crepe beaded in black. Mrs. Algie in a draped frock of black crepe de chine. Airs.
