WATER SUPPLY PROPOSAL The unusual procedure of returning a letter was adopted at the meeting of the Manurewa Town Board W; evening. As the result of improvements affected at Jellicoe Park, donations o! £5 were asked for from the local Association football and Rugby Urnon football clubs. The Soccer code acceded to the request, but the Rugby club was short of funds. A letter was sent by the board to the Rugby Union pointy out the position, and the union forwarded a cheque for £5. A strongly-worded letter was received by the board from the secretary of the Manurewa Club, taking exception to the board going over the heads of the local Rugby club. On the motion of Mr. Fawcett, who described the letter as **a parcel of lies” and mis-statement right through, it was decided to return the letter. The Auckland Hospital Board’s contention that the relief of unemployment distress is a national matter was supported, and it was agreed to advise Mr. McLennan, M.P., and the Minister of Public Health of the board’s decision. The decision of the traffic committee, to allow the Papakura Town Board the services of the traffic inspector and assistant, at a cost of £l5O per annum, was approved. Signboards are to be erected on the Great South Road, at the northern and southern boundaries of the town board district. Th© Railway Department advised that they did not consider the traffic to the Mahia railway station warranted the cost of the formation of a road. The chairman said that they could only advise the residents interested of the decision. Notice was received from the Highways Board of the gazetting of Aifrvton Road as a main highway, carrying a subsidy of 30s to 20s. The Main Highways Board advise that it was not liable for the cost oremoving the electric-power pole in connection with the straightening the overhead railway bridge on the Great South Road. An agreement has been reached witn Mrs. Blampied in connection bringing the Great South Road to permanent levels in front of property. _ ... Bonuses of £ 5 to Mr. R. Forbes and £3 10s to Mr. E.
