“LEAGUE OF NOTIONS” REVUE
COMING TO ST. JAMES’ THEATRE The "League of Notions” Revue Company. This bright revue is Theatre after the “Mercenary Mary” Comppany. This bright revue is headed by Mike Connors and Qucenie Paul, two old favourites. F| d. Reek, a popular comedian with Australians, keeps the audience in roars of laughter with his quaint mannerisms, his humour and his staccato laugh. A warm welcome is also assured Linn Smith’s Jazz Band, which is a feature of the show. Valerie Rougal, Frank Perrin, Ivy Davies, Leslie Pearce and many other popular artists contribute to the fun. Ballet dancing, s»fos and concerted numbers, and a succession of dramatic, sentimental and humorous playlets add further variety to the programme. GRAND SHOWS “THE SMART SET’ “The Smart Set,” starring William Haines, is now beng shown at the Grand Theatre. Haines has established for himself a reputation of making consistently good pictures, but with' “The Smart Set” he goes one better, because he presents a difficult role with his customary easy humour. The story is of smart society and a millionaire’s son who, because of a natural gift for polo, becomes a member of the smartest and best polo team in existence. A strong cast including Alice Day, Hobart Bosworth and Jack Holt supports the star. A full supporting programme is being presented.
Lon Chaney has completed the final sequences of “While The City Sleeps” under Jack Conway's direction at ihe Metro-Gold wyn-Mayer studios. The new picture is a story of the New York underworld, and Anita F*age Mae Busch, Polly Moran and Clarence Ly e ! are included in the cast.
