HERE AND THERE
The members of the Manukau Yacht Club had a working bee dLiring the week-end on the task of building a slipway. Some of the parts w r ere got into position.
To-morrow evening boatmen, who moor behind the Iris at Devonport, will wait on the local Borough Council to confer on the matter of providing up-to-date dinghy accommodation. The owners of outboard craft will put in a request, at the same time, for sheds.
Rehutai had a trial run out of her lew engine last Sunday at the wharf, hull, when put down, was found
to be weeping a little: it had not had any cotton since it was a hull. The owner, Mr. Seagar, says he cannot stand a dribbling boat, so Rehtitai was pulled up and recaulked. The engine gave every satisfaction, except a hot bottom end, due to a blocked oil tube; and after dismantling for cleaning will be given a cruising test. The Manukau Yacht Club Committee last evening finalised arrangements fo.r its "smoker” and prize night on Saturday. The prizes, including a. couch, filled a shop window, and have attracted much attention dLiring the last week. * * * The Manukau Cruising Club has cordially responded to the overtures of the Manukau Yacht Club for amicable working together in the interests of the sport.
