FRUIT MARKET STOCKS

APPLE INQUIRY LESSENS Without being brisk, generally fair sales were made in fruit at the city markets to-day. Apples have slackened off and the inquiry remains poor.

A smaller shipment of bananas than usual arrived, this week by the Tofua. They are selling at 17s 6d, ex wharf. A few Fiji tomatoes also came. A fresh shipment of citrus fruits will arrive from Sydney to-day. It will be sold to-morrow. Lemons and Poorman oranges have fallen in value, but Island oranges are selling freely. Stocks are light, but a fresh shipment is expected on Monday. Supplies of cabbages and cauliflowers were light to-day, but the market remains well supplied with kumeras and pumpkins. Other vegetables are in good demand. Quotations: FRUIT Apples.—Stunners, 5s to 8s: Delicious, 5s to 9s; Dougherty, 4s to 6s; Granny Smith, 9s to 12s; Munroes, 6s to 7s 6d; Winesaps, 7s to Bs.
