DISAPPOINTED IN LOVE
SUITOR SMASHES WINDOW ORDERED TO PAY DAMAGE (Special to THE SUN) WANGANUI, Sunday. George Henry Allan, who figured some months ago as informant and chief witness for the Crown in an alleged sheep-stealing case, was convicted at the Police Court yesterday on a charge of smashing the plateglass window of a sweet shop, and doing other damage to the extent of £2B 16s 3d. The offence was apparently the outcome of unrequited love. The woman who owned the shop recently broke off their engagement, and apparently Allan had brooded over this. On the night in question he passed the shoo three times, and the woman dosed the premises for a time. Then Allan picked up some concrete and threw it through the window, causing the damage complained of. Accused pleaded guilty, and was ordered to pay the damage at the rate of £2 a month. He was placed on probation for two years.
