Notice to Correspondents
“Fair Play/’—An officer of the Defence Department at the Rutland Street Drill Hall, replying to your letter, said that the position had been open for six months and only one application had been received. Gejjsrbment stores valued at nearly had been lost through fire and therefore it was necessary to appoint someone who lived near the hall. This man, who lived opposite and was a deserving case, was appointed. Had any reliable returned soldier applied he would have received tha position. Further, the remuneration was so small, considering the work to be done, that it had not been considered necessary to call for applications in the Press. Ed. The Sun.
