LIQUOR STOLEN FROM WHARF IMPRISONMENT AND FINES (From Our Own Correspondent) ' THAMES, To-day. Three men, William Henry McCowatt, Cyril Desmond Hewson and Robert Bruce McCowatt. were charged in the Police Court to-day with stealing a case of whisky, a keg of beer and various goods from the Puriri Wharf during the months of June and July. The evidence showed that the men, who reside at Turua, went to the wharf in a launch and removed the goods to W. H. McCowatt’s house at Turua. After hearing the evidence the accused all pleaded guilty. W. H. McCowatt, whom the police said had been carrying on the game for years, was sentenced to three months' imprisonment, and the other two accused were each fined £lO and ordered to pay £7 19s costs and value of the stolen goods.
