Gay Kaikohe Affair
Alluring little cosy nooks, sheltered by T waving nikau palms and possessing a quaintly rustic air, were popular spots between the dances at the successful annual bail held by the members of the Kaikohe Golf Club in Everybody’s Theatre during the week. The general decorative scheme was very attractively designed with the club’s colours of blue and gold the leitmotiv. Over the centre of the floor a beautiful bell was suspended, inset with hundreds of tiny twinkling electric lights. The stage and gallery were banked with lycopodium and palm fronds. Dickson’s ITall was also decorated and was used as a supper room. Mrs. A. J. Edwards’s orchestra sup- . plied excellent music, extras being played by' Mesdames Wright, Wyatt, Heslop and Misses Jaceutho and Kingston. Guests were present from Whangarei, Kakakawa, Kaeo, Okaihau, Oliaewai, Pakoraka, Taheke and Waimatenui. Messrs. F. W. Bean and N. F. Alcock were M.C.’s. Among those present were; Mrs. F. W. Bean, duck egg blue taffeta and cream lace, pink and blue posy. Mrs. Brown, apricot net over pink satin, with frilled skirt and Spanish shawl. Mrs. Byrne, love in a mist blue taffeta and gold lace. Mrs. L. Clear.y, mauve shot taffeta. Mrs. W. G. Cummins, black ring velvet. Mrs. Dawson, bois de rose georgette, embroidered in silver sequins and crystals. Mrs. C. Dickeson, blue taffeta and silver lace. Mrs. A. J. Edwards, peach crepe de chine and silver lace. Mrs. A. W. Edwards, black beaded frock with bunches of scarlet. Mrs. Guerin, black beaded satin. Miss Iris Purdy', blue georgette over lace. Miss V. Rout, ripe maize crepe de chine, and gold lace. Miss D. Routley, shrimp marocain with green flower. Miss K. Routley, henna taffeta trimmed with silver. Miss D. Squire, sunset taffeta and gold tissue. Miss M. Worthington, scarlet crepe de chine with scalloped gold lace hem. BIRTHDAY PARTY Mr. and Mrs. Harry Norman gave a party at the B.omain Kiosk on Thursday evening in celebration of Mr. Norman’s birthday. Streamers and flowers decorated the rooms, and novel paper hats were distributed. Games and musical items were interspersed with the dancing and several competitions were held. Mr. and Mrs. Robert Skinner won a dance competition and Mr. G. Overington was successful in another. Mr. Bernard Morley entertained with humorous items and Mr. Jack Wild contributed several songs. The hostess wore a frock of black georgette with opalescent trimming. Among the guests were: Mrs. If. Rhodes, wearing leaf green velvet with silver relief. Mrs. Guy Martin in black ring velvet with blue posies. Mrs. J. Young, wearing a navy blue silk crepe frock with touches of silver. Mrs. Tristram, in opal blue crepe de chine. Mrs. Bernard Morley, who wore black velvet with touches of guipure lace. Mrs. Jack Wild, in a frock of black silk crepe. Mrs. H. Cave, wearing fuchsia ring velvet and gold lace. Mrs. B. Bridges, in a frock of black silk charmeuse. f ew * s » wore a flame georgette Miss Rona Young, in tangerine perlette and velvet. Miss Muriel Young, in an ivory crepe de chine frock. Miss Esma Young, wearing dove greygeorgette. Mrs. Tristram, in a frock of black ring velvet.
