MUSICIAN’S DEATH
MR. GEORGE F. CATER One of the best-known band conductors in Auckland, Mr. George T\ Cater, of IS Maidstone Stre-t. Grey Lynn, died yesterday, after an ! illness of several months. Until a few weeks ago Mr. Cater was secretary of the Musicians’ Union, a position which he had held tor seven years. For about 17 years he was conductor of the Auckland Artillery Band. He had also been in charge of ; the Orphans* Orchestra, tire Blind Institute Band and the Leys Institute Orchestra. Four months ago he had a nervous breakdown and his heart , became weak. Mr. Cater leaves two sons, Mr. Herman Cater, of Rotorua, Mr. Victor Cater, of Auckland, and a daughter. Miss Moliie Cater.
