ADMIRAL BLUNT DEAD

Rear-Admiral William Frederick Blunt has died at Kenya from blackwater fever. Rear-Admiral "William Frederick Blunt was born in IS7O. He was a midshipman of H.M.S. Garnet during the blockade of the Zanzibar Coast, 1888-89; lieutenant in command of H.M.S. Dragon during the operations at Crete in 1897 and 1898. In the European war he was in command of H.M.S. Fearless at the action in Heligoland Bight on August 28, 1914, and received the D.S.O. He was captain in command of the First Destroyer Flotilla, 1913-15; H.M.S. Jupiter, 1915-16; operations at Aden and in the Suez Canal; captain of H.M.S. Gloucester at the Battle of Jutland (he was mentioned in dispatches); H.M.S. Berwick and H.M.S. Achilles, 1916-19; rear-admiral (retired) 1922, when he went to Kenya Colony.
