CHARING CROSS SCHEME COST OF £11,930,000 British Official Wireless. RUGBY, Thursday. The London County Council yesterday approved the scheme of the Ministry of Transport for the construction of a road and bridge at Charing Cross, and the removal of Charing Cross railway station to the south side of the river. The estimated cost of the scheme, including the building of a new embankment on the river front, is £11,930,000. The council’s approval is subject to a grant being made from the Road Fund of 75 per cent, of the actual expenditure, to be applicable to the whole scheme. The liability of the council for its share of the cost of the scheme and for reconditioning Waterloo Bridge, which forms part of the scheme, is restricted to £3,219,000.
