PRINCE EDWARD
VAUDEVILLE AND PICTURES “The Flight Commander,” which will bo shown at tho Prince Edward Theatre this evening, is a story of the British air service in China, with Sir Alan Cobham, the noted British pilot, in the cast. The plot concerns a native uprising which cuts off a small group on a British station until rescued by a squadron of airplanes. Equally outstanding is the second attraction, “The Desert Woman,” starring the well-known actress, Irene Rich, who plays the role of the wife of an officer at an outpost on the Indian plains. A vaudeville programme of unusual interset will be presented by the Four D’Almaines in “A Night With the Yogis,” an act embracing all the mysteries of Oriental occultism. In addition there will be Hassan Khan, an Indian fakir, introducing the Hindu Torture Board, and Miss Gladys, spiritualistic medium. “THE SMART SET” AT GRAND A notable cast, including William Haines, Jack Holt and Alice Day, is seen in the picture, “The Smart Set,” which will be shown at the Grand Theatre this evening. As Tommy Van Bureij, a gilded and audacious male flower of modern aristocracy, William Haines introduces polo to movie-goers in “The Smart Set.” Of course he also introduces an exceptionally pretty girl, who hates his conceit and cheek, but who is overjoyed to promise to be his only—always—at the end of a stirring, actionpacked story in which a strong dash of drama adds to the unflagging interest. Abundant thrills, colourful scenes and many laughable glimpses into the ways of the sporting set as inimitably portrayed by Haines, make “The Smart Set” one of the best pictures of this year. A strong supporting programme will also be shown.
