CHURCH MEETINGS

KNOX PRESBYTERIANS On Wednesday evening the Rev. A. M. Apsland presided over the 13th an- ' nual congregational meeting of the ! Knox Presbyterian Church in Parnell. The year had been one of good progress, said Mr. Apsland, and a spirit of harmony and goodwill had been manifested. Accordnig to the session reports there were 130 persons on the Communion roll. It was said that the finances of the church had been very satisfactory during the year. An amount had been paid off the manse mortgage, a debt of £SOO remaining—the only one on the whole of the church buildings. The following were appointed managers for the ensuing year;—Mesdames W. Fegan, W. D. Grant, Misses Gilmer, McQuarie, Scarborough, and Messrs. R. J. Byers, A. S. Carmichael, G. H. Cornes, F. Hookey, I. B. Patterson, E. Rishworth and W. Trott. ST. JAMES, WELLINGTON STREET It was stated at the annual meeting of the St. James congregation that Sunday collections had increased to £949, that the indebtedness of the congregation was reduced by £313 and that the new church fund stood at £2,345. The Rev. Evan R. Harries, who presided, announced that £372 had been contributed to missions and kindred causes. He suggested a vote of thanks to the deaconess, Sister Margaret, who had done wonderful work for the poor and in the Sunday school. TE PUKE PRESBYTERIANS The annual congregational meeting of the Te Puke Presbyterian Church was held this week, the Rev. R. 'Warnock presiding. The accounts showed that receipts for the year had totalled £412. and according to the rolls there were 72 members of the church. The Management Committee mu authorised to proceed with the building of the Sunday school as soon as possible.
