CHATHAM CUP SEMI-FINAL Y.M.C.A. GOES TO HIKURANGI On account of the Rugby League test match at Carlaw Park no senior Soccer games will be staged to-mor-row, but junior games before 2 p.m. will be played as usual. Y.M.C.A., the city finalists for the Y.M.C.A. the city finalists for the Chatham Cup knockouts, journeys to Whangarei by this afternoon’s train, to meet Waro Wanderers, the North Auckland Association finalists, at Hikurangi to-morrow. To allow of the town team returning from North by to-morrow’s train, an early start will be made. The Y.M.C.A. will be without Clanachan, and the team will consist of: Paton, Mowat, Otter, Dick, Riddolls, Malcolm, Chalmers, Grant, Humphreys, McAuslan, Whaley. The Young Men have been in solid training and coaching during the week, and are confident of doing credit to Auckland against the hefty Hikurangi miners. The winner of the knockout will meet Pukemiro, the South Auckland finalists, at Blandford Park on Saturday, August 11, when it is hoped to stage the first interprovincial secondary school contest between teams representing Auckland and Wellington. The dispute between Petone and Hastings United as to the venue of the Wellington district final of the Chatham Cup has been settled by a compromise, and the two clubs will now meet at Palmerston North on August

11 to decide which team shall journey to Auckland on August 18 and decide the North Island winner to meet the South Island winner in the final at Wellington for possession of the trophy. Mr. Don Miller, games director at the Y.M.C.A., journeys North to-day with the Auckland finalists, who ■will return to town by the late train tomorrow night.
