MRS. HOSKING WINS GOLF TITLE

PLAY AT ONE TREE HILL Before a large gathering at One Tree Hill golf links yesterday, Mrs. Mosking won the Maungakiekie championship, beating Miss K. Horton in the final, 4 and 2. Mrs. Paterson beat Mrs. Grevatt in the junior title, 5 and 3. The senior title win was due almost solely to the power of Mrs. Hosking’s long game, coupled with a couple of outstanding putts. Her tee shots and iron seconds during most of the round left Miss Horton with far too much to do, and the game was practically decided when the winner got to a lead of 5 up at. the eighth. At the ninth she got into trouble, but was out in the excellent score of 44 to 47. Miss Horton won the ninth and 10th, and halved the next four, missing good opportunities at the 13th and 15th. Mrs. Hosking won the 16th and the match, after luckily getting her tee shot through the plantation. Both played good golf. Mrs. Paterson had a surprisingly good win in the junior event, finishing up by holing-out her approach shot at the 15th, an incident which was appreciated fully by the gallery which had switched over to watch the finish of the event.
