Two Hundred Killed In Making a Canal

DISASTER STILL FOLLOWS (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Australian and N.Z. Press Association.) Reed. 9.5 a.m. OTTAWA, Wednesday. A MESSAGE from St. Catherines, Ontario, says nine workmen were killed when a steel gate of the Welland Canal collapsed, throwing 30 men to the bottom of the canal. Ten others are missing and five are injured. Two hundred men have been killed since the construction was started 15 years ago. St. Catherines is the capital of the county of Lincoln, and is situated on the canal.
