PERSONAL.—Captain E. J. McClellan has reported from sick leave, and has resumed command of the Kahika, relieving Captain A H Prosser, who will await instructions at Wellington. Captain G. D. Fraser has been appointed to command of th« Balls Head, relieving Captain R. Clark, who will await instructions in the meantime. Mr. D. R. McPhail will join the Marama as fourth officer to-day. Mr. C. W. Dovey is to join the Waipiata as third officer, temporarily relieving Mr. C. G. Hill for his holidays. Captain A. M. Edwin, of Wellington (late Union 8.8. Co., Ltd.), coastal pilot, had charge of the Shanghai (late s.s. Karori) from Westport, arriving at Auckland yesterday morning. Captain Edwin returned South by last evening’s express. KARTIGI SAILING. —At 4 o’clock this afternoo lithe local office of the Union Company expects to dispatch the steamer Kartigi from Auckland for Greymouth, where she loads early next week for Sydney. TOFUA FOR AUCKLAND.—The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the Island passenger steamer Tofua leaves Suva at 4 o’clock this afternoon for Auckland, where she is due next Monday. OMANA DUE SATURDAY.—The Lamb steamer Omana is to he dispatched from Gisborne this evening for Auckland, and is due here on Saturday to continue loading for Australia. She completes at Dargaville and Hokianga. NANKING TO UNDOCK.—The former Union Company steamer Whangape, but recently purchased by Messrs. Moller and Co. for service in China, the Nanking, is expected to undock to-morrow, after having her hull cleaned and painted.
VESSELS FOR THE EAST.—The Moller and Co. steamer Shanghai, which arrived at Auckland yesterday with bunker coal from Westport, will bunker the Nanking early next week. The two vessels are to be dispatched shortly for Borneo to load hardwood logs for the East.
THE CANADIAN BRITISHER.—An expected arrival at Auckland toward the end of next -week is the Canadian Government steamer Canadian Britisher, from Montreal. The vessel has general merchandise for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin.
ELVERIC SAILS TO-MORROW. —The Weir Line steamer Elveric is expected to eomnlete cargo operations at Chelsea tomorrow afternoon,. and to sail for Westport in the evening to replenish her bunkers before proceeding to Nauru Island to load phosphates for Australia. SULPHUR FROM TEXAS. —Having left Galveston, Texas, on June 9, the steamer Copenhagen is due at Auckland about August 36. She has a sulphur cargo, which will be unloaded at Auckland, Lyttelton* and Wanganui. R. Millar and Co. are the local agents.
RANELLA SAILED. —The Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Company’s tanker Ranella sailed from Auckland this morning for Balikpapan. after having completed the discharge of her cargo of bulk oil from that port at Wellington and Auckland. SYDNEY STEAMERS. —The Maheno leaves Auckland at 11 a.m. to-morrow, and the Marama sails from Wellington at 3 p.m. the same day for Sydney. The Ulimaroa clears Sydney at noon to-mor-row for Auckland. All the three vessels are due at their arrival ports next Tuesday.
FARES REDUCED.—The Northern Steamship Company advises that from Monday next, August 6, fares to Tauranga, Whakatane, Opotiki, Gisborne, Russell, Whangaroa, Mangonui, and Kaitaia will be greatly reduced. An advertisement to this effect will appear in to-morrow’s issue.
WAIPORI TO DOCK. —The former Union Company's steamer Waipori, which was recently sold to a Japanese firm, is to be docked at Calliope Dock probably on Saturday, when the Moller and to. steamer Nanking has undocked. T jl e Waipori will leave shortly for Newcastle to load coal for Manila. CARGO FROM PACIFIC COAST. According to a radio message received by the local office of the Union Companv, the transpacific cargo steamer Waihemo is expected to arrive at Auckland next Sunday from the Pacific Coast ports. After discharge here, the vessel proceeds to Napier, thence Wellington, Melbourne and Sydney to complete. TEKOA DELAYED. —The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company has been advised that the steamer Tekoa has been further delayed at Gisborne and is now expected to arrive at Auckland next Tuesday to complete her loading It is hoped to dispatch the vessel finally from this port on Wednesday, August 8, for New York and London, via Panama.
NORTHUMBERLAND LATE. Advice has been received by the local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Federal steamer Northumberland is now to leave New Plymouth on August 7 for Auckland, where she is due on August 9 to continue her loading. From this port the vessel proceeds to Gisborne, Waikokopu. Napier, Lyttelton, Wanganui and Wellington to fill up, and is scheduled to clear Wellington finally on August 2S for London, via Panama,
PORT AUCKLAND AT LONDON. — Cabled advice has been received by the C. and D. Line that the Port Auckland arrived at London last Friday from 'Wellington, via the Cape Horn route. The vessel left 'Wellington on June 14.
I H U M AT A FOR AUCKLAN D.—The Northern Steamship Company has received advice that the R. S. Lamb steamer Ihuniata was dispatched frtjju Newcastle on .Monday last for Auckland. The vessel, which is bringing a cargo of hardwood poles and coal, is due here next week.
CARGO FROM MONTREAL. —Cabled news has been received by the Canadian National Steamships that the Canadian Transporter left Montreal last Friday with general cargo to discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Timaru, and Dunedin. The vessel is due at Auckland on September S.
KAIRANGA LEAVES NEWCASTLE.— Cabled news has been received by the Union Company that the Kairanga cleared Newcastle at 7 a.m. on Tuesday with cargo for discharge at Miramar and Wellington. She is due there on Sunday.
HURUNUI AT DAKAR.—A cable message to the New Zealand Shipping Company reports that the Hurunui arrived at Dakar, West Africa, on Saturday, from Wellington, en route to Las Palmas, London, and West Coast of Great Britain. The vessel left Wellington on June 20.
TRANS-PACIFIC CARGO STEAMERS. —The Waihemo left Los Angeles on July 12 for Auckland, Napier, Wellington. Melbourne, and Sydney. She is due at Auckland on Sunday.
The Wairuna will leave Ocean Falls on August 6 for San Francisco and Los Angeles, to complete loading for Papeete, Auckland, Napier, Lyttelton, Dunedin, and New Plymouth. She will clear Ix>s Angeles on August 15.
The Waiotapu left Suva on July 22. She is due at Vancouver on August 13, and will complete loading at San Francisco and Los Angeles'for Wellington, Melbourne, and Sydney, clearing Los Angeles early in September.
The Waikawa left Lautoka on July 25, and is due at Vancouver on August 14. She will proceed thence to San Francisco and Los Angeles to complete loading for Apia, Auckland. Nelson, Melbourne, and Sydney, and will clear Los Angeles about September S.
The Hauraki will clear Suva to-day for Vancouver, where she is due on August 20, and will load at Pacific Coast ports during August and September for Auckland, Wellington, Melbourne, Adelaide, and Sydney. The Waitemata will leave Newcastle on August 8 for Suva, and go thence to Vancouver, San Francisco, and Los Angeles to load for Napier. Lyttelton, Nelson, New Plymouth, and probably Bluff if there is sufficient inducement.

POOLTA FOR NEW ZEALAND.—The Union Company advises that the Poolta left Clarence River yesterday for Port Stephens, Newcastle, and Sydney, to complete loading for New Plymouth and Wellington. WITHIN WIRELESS RANGE— The following vessels are expected to be within range of the undermentioned wireless stations to-night:— Auckland.—Tofua. Aorangi. Waibemo, Maui Pomare, Waitomo, Papanui, Kartigi, Canadian Highlander. Chatham Islands.—Canadian Britisher, Ruapehu. Wellington.—Maori, Wahine, Ngaio, Niagara, Tamahine, Dunedin, Maunganui, Fravata, Samiento, Tekoa. Kairanga, Taranaki, Kinross, Petgivola, Port Bowen. Awarua. —Makura, Kalingo, Glenmoor, Karetu, Borderer, Willesden, Rotorua, Waikouaiti. PORT OF ONEHUNGA—ARRIVALS YESTERDAY TOA (11.10 p.m.), 210 tons, FowlerJackson, from Raglan and Kawhia. The Toa sails from Onehunga at three o’clock this afternoon for Hokianga. She arrived shortly before midnight last night from Raglan, Kawhia and Port Waikato. . The Rarawa sails at three o clock this coal port to Kaipara. The vessel is due back again on Saturday. . „ . Tlie Northern Company advises that the Arapawa, now en route from Wanganui to Westport, proceeds from the coal port to Kaipara. The vesel is due back at Onehunga on Tuesday next.
