GIFT TO DEVONPORT
WATSON BEQUEST BIG INSTALMENT PAID Under the terms of the Watson bequest, the Devonport Borough Council has just received its seventh interim amount, in this case £1,384 12s 4d. The late Mr. Watson bequeathed one-twenty-sixth of the residue of his estate for improving the esplanade along the foreshore (at the eastern end of the borough), and when that is finished, the erection of a memorial fountain. So far the borough has received about £3,000 under the bequest. The council proposes to erect a memorial light on the esplanade as an acknowledgment of the testator’s generosity.
