Kisses Galore
SOUTHERN ARTISTS I j APPRECIATE RISE ( I IN SALARY I J L A LUCKY TREASURER To be kissed 20 times by the chorus girls of the Fuller-Gondalez Grand Opera Co. was the enviable experience of Signor A. Folli, treasurer of the company, on Friday last, says the Christchurch “Sun.” It was “treasury night,” as they say behind the scenes, and although the girls themselves did not know it, they had been given a rise. Signor Folli sat in his office, envelopes and receipts before him. The first payees came, four of them together. They signed their receipts, then one opened her envelope. "Cheers,” she cried. Then, realising that Signor Folli was at least the immediate cause of this sudden blessing that had come to her, she rushed at him, clinched with all the vigour of a champion wrestler, and fair and square kissed him. The others, opening their envelopes, followed suit. Signor Folli, who knows a good thing when he sees—or feels —it, went on with the paying-out process. It is understood that he hopes that the management will authorise another rise shortly. Arthur Honegger, the famous French modern musician, is writing a sport-symphony, and it is to be called “Rugby.” What a chance for descriptive orchestration.
