BOROUGH COUNCIL MEETS The Devonport Borough Council met last evening, Mi'. J. Hislop, DeputyMayor, presiding. A deputation from boat-owners who want dinghy shed accommodation west ot the wharf will be heard next WednesP n fhe following Wednesday a deputation from Stanley Bay Croquet C.ub will be heard in support of the application to have the croquet lawns completed. As some residents wish to have a key to water meter in order to “keep an eye” on their consumption, it has been arranged to let them have keys under certain conditions.^ The Devonport quarterlv quota of heavy traffic licence fees amount to £897. which is £-10 less than last year. A resident of Alexander Street, whose property is overlooking the harbour, has a section that is rapidly slipping away. He was granted leave, to move his house into a side street pending the fencing of a section on which to place it. As the Marine Department requires an Order-in-Council before sanctioning work below high-water mark at Melrose Park, the council lias applied for an Order covering five acres. Over that area special enabling- legislation would be required.
