DAIRY COY. ACTIVITIES HIKURANGI COY. HAS RECORD YEAR (From Our Oxen Correspondent) WHANGAREI, Wednesday. About 130 suppliers attended the annual meeting of the Hik. . angi Dairy Company yesterday at Hikurangi. The annual report and balance sheet, showing a record year, were adopted. The amount realised a !b was approximately three-farthings a lb more than that received in the previous season. A considerable amount of the output was sold f.0.b., 21.051 boxes being disposed of in this manner at an average price of Is 5d a lb. The slight decrease in the quantity of superfine, and increase of second grade, was attributable, said the chairman, Mr. F. Elliott, to the very hot weather which prevailed during the year. .He regretted that comparatively few suppliers had signified their intention of having their herds tested. There were six nominations for three seats on the directorate, and the retiring directors, Messrs. F. Elliott, J. Rouse, and J. J. Whimp were returned. WHANGAROA DAIRY COMPANY KAEO, Wednesday. The annual meeting of the Whangaroa Dairy Company was held at Kaeo, Mr. W. H. Lane presiding. The chairman said the directors had disposed of practically the whole of the output for the coming season at the following prices, which were considered very satisfactory: July, Is 6Jd a lb; August to March 31, Is sd; April and May, Is 43d. The retiring directors, Messrs. T. H. Hayes, E. R. Shepherd, and J. L. Johanson. were reelected. Messrs. Pinker and Boj'd were re-elected auditors. MARKETING OF FRUIT (United P.A.—By Telegraph — Copyright) (Austi alian and W.Z. Press Association.) (United Service) Reed. D. 5 a.m. VANCOUVER, Wed. Western Australia w'ill have a FruitMarketing Act if the plans of Mr. R. S. Sampson are carried out. Interviewed after a tour, he declared that the British Columbia Marketing Act was the only growers’ solution at present. There was no Act in Western Australia to assist the organisation of growers. The British Columbia Marketing Act gives power to a committee of direction arbitrarily to fix the prices which the growers may ship. The consumers are up in arms against it. Nine growers who were convicted of shipping without a permit won the appeal. They contended that the Act was ultra vires. It will ultimately go to the Privy Council. Mr. Sampson favours the Canadian j evsiftm of bulk handling of wheat. j
