NOT IN THE RING?

fT'HE interference to which New Zealand horses continue to be subjected in their races in and around Sydney is a by-word these days. In an interesting note to THE SUN an ex-Aucklander now residing in Sydney referred to this, and referred specifically to the manner in which First Acre has been dealt with on several occasions. He expressed the opinion that the local jockeys wouldn’t give apprentice Webster (son of First Acre’s owner) any chance at all, and he gets all the rough stuff going. Sydney newspapers confirm this, and one wonders what the stipendiary stewards think of it. Where there is smoke there is sure to be fire.
