Board Apologises To Principal
A CONFIDENTIAL REPORT EDUCATIONAL STIR Fop discussing openly a recommendation, meant by the principal of the Teachers’ Training College to be confidential and for allowing the impression to get abroad that he had been disrespectful, the Education Board made apology today. Protesting that his confidential recommendation about the appointment o! a physical instructor had been discussed in open board and that newspaper reports had suggested he had been disrespectful, the principal, Mr. H. G. Cousins wrote to the board to-day. The chairman. Mr. A. Burns, suggested that the board should go into committee to discuss the letter. Mr. T. U. Wells objected to the board going into committee, saying that the previous discussion had gone abroad. The board should admit it' had made a mistake. The chairman admitted the mistake. The original letter sent by Mr. Cousins to the executive had been marked "confidential,” but the second one had hot been. It was very rarely that the office staff overlooked a confidential subject. Mr. H. S. W. King said he had not Known the letter was confidential. He suggested that a report should be Siven to the Press after a discussion w committee. On resumption after a long discussion, the chairman said: “The board as resolved to send a letter to the principal stating that he was justified Mr. Wells: Fully. AiH 16 .
