PERSONAL.—The many New Zealand friends of Captain J. W. Binks, R.D., R.N.R., late commander of the Athenie, will be pleased to hear that he is relieving Captain Hickson, of the Adriatic. It is possible that Captain Binks will return to the New Zealand service later.

NIAGARA FROM VANCOUVER.—Due at Auckland on Monday, August 13, from Vancouver and way ports, the local office of . the Union Company advises that the R.M.S. Niagara will continue her voyage from here at 3 p.m. the following day for Sydney.

PETRICOLA SAILED.—To complete the discharge of her cargo of San Francisco bvilk oil, the Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Company’s tanker Petricola sailed from Auckland this morning for Wellington. She arrived at this port on Sunday morning last.

RANELLA TO SAIL. After discharging the remainder of her cargo of bulk oil from Balikpapan, Borneo, via Wellington ,the Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Companys’ tanker Ranella is to be dispatched from Auckland to-morrow morning for San Francisco.

KARTIGI SAILS TO-MORROW. —Now coaling the Japanese warships, the Union Company’s collier Kartigi later berths at the King’s Wharf to complete discharge. At noon to-morrow the vessel leaves Auckland for Greymouth, where she will load next week for Sydney.

TOFUA AT SUVA.—The local office of the Union Company has been advised that the Island passenger steamer Tofua arrived at Suva last evening from Apia, Samoa, and leaves to-morroiv at 4 p.m. for Auckland, where she is expected to arrive next Monday.

MAUI POMARE SAILS.—The Government motor-ship Maui Pomare sailed from Auckland shortly after midnight tor Niue Island and Apia, Samoa. The following passengers left with the vessel: Mr. Kronfeld, Mrs. Partridge, Mr. Mitchell and Mrs. Smith.

JAPANESE STEAMER WAIPORI.—A Japanese captain, officers and crew for the ex-Union Company’s steamer Waipori reached Auckland from Sydney by the Maheno yesterday. The Waipori is at Western Wharf and is to sail this week for Newcastle to load coal for Manila.

MAHENO IN PORT. —Shortly after two o’clock yesterday afternoon the Union Company’s passenger steamer Maheno arrived in the stream at Auckland from Sydney, and after pratique was granted berthed at the Central Wharf to land her passengers, mails and cargo. Moderate southerly winds and seas were experienced in the Tasman Sea and light easterly winds and fine weather after rounding the North Cape. Included in the cargo of the Maheno’s are transhipments ex the following vessels: Marella, Aagtekerk, Garmula, Zealandia, Menes, Mildura, Corrinal, Bombola, Goulburn, Dilkerra, Burwah. Bombala, Berrima. Essen, Freiberg, Tanda, St. Albans, Maranoa, Hobson’s Bay, India Maru, Koranui and Katoomba.

The Maheno is to be dispatched from Auckland at 11 o’clock on Friday morning on her return trip Ap Sydney.

RUAHINE LEAVES COLON.—Homeward bound from Xew Zealand, the local

office of the Xew Zealand Shipping: Company has been advised that the liner Ruahine sailed from Colon on July 29 for Southampton and London. The Ruahine left Wellington on July 7.

LAMB STEAMER OMAN A. —The Lamb steamer Omana has been further delayed at Gisborne owing to continuous wet weather and is now due at Auckland on Saturday morning. After loading timber at Auckland she will go to Dargaville and Tlokianga to complete loading timber for Australia.

ROTORUA AT BLUFF. —The Xew Zealand Shipping Company's liner Rotorua arrived at Bluff this morning from Port Chalmers and later proceeds to Timaru, thence Lyttelton and Wellington to fill up for Home. The vessel sails finally from Wellington on August 18 for Southampton and London, via Panama.

ARAWA COMPLETING. —The Shaw. Savill and Albion Company advises that the liner Arawa arrived at Wellington this morning from Lyttelton, to complete her loading for Home. She is

scheduled to clear Wellington at daybreak on Saturday for Southampton and London, via Montevideo and Teneriffe.

CANADIAN HIGHLANDER SAILING. —Having completed loading Xew Zealand produce for America, the Canadian National Steamships steamer Canadian Highlander, which arrived at Auckland yesterday afternoon from Wellington and berthed at Princes Wharf, is to be dispatched finally this evening for Montreal, via New York and Boston.

KAI KORA I PAYS OFF. —The Union Company’s collier Kaikorai (Captain F. Bilton) arrived at Auckland yesterday afternoon from Sydney and Newcastle, via Suva, and after pratique was granted, berthed at the King's Wharf. The vessel pays off at Auckland to undergo her annual overhaul and survey at this port.

TEKOA TO COMPLETE. —The local office of the Xew Zealand Shipping Company have been advised that the steamer Tekoa leaves Gisborne on Saturday for Auckland, where she is due next Monday to complete her loading. It is hoped to dispatch the Tekoa finally from Auckland on August S for New* York, Boston and London, via Panama.

TARANAKI LEAVING WELLINGTON.—A. S. Paterson and Company have been advised that the Shaw. Savill and Albion motor-ship Taranaki leaves Wellington to-day for Napier, thence Gisborne and Auckland to complete her loading for Home. She is due here on August S and is to clear this port finally on August 12 for London and West of England ports, via Panama.

PA KEH A FOR SOUTH. —L. D. Nathan and Company advises that the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Fakeha leaves Auckland, at daybreak on Saturday for Wellington, thence Lyttelton and Dunedin, to complete her discharge of Liverpool cargo. She later takes the loading berth in Xew Zealand and returns to Auckland in September to fill up for Xew York, Boston and London.

MAHANA ARRIVING. —A further radio message received by A. S. Paterson and Company states that the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Mahana is expected to arrive at the powder anchorage at 7 o’clock this evening from London. After discharging her explosives, the vessel will come up to Auckland to land the local portion of her cargo before proceeding to Wellington and Lyttelton to complete.

SHANGHAI ARRIVES. An arrival in the stream at Auckland early this morning was the Moller and Company steamer Shanghai with a cargo of coal from Westport. The vessel, formerly the Union Company’s steamer Karori, berthed at Prince’s Wharf shortly before noon, and will there bunker Moller and Company’s other steamer, Nanking, formerly the Union Company’s Whangape.

APANUI DELAYED. The Northern Company advises that the Apanui, after being delayed in the Bay of Plenty, was to leave Tairua for Auckland this morning and is due to-morrow morning. The vessel was originally due this morning and was to have sailed for the Great Barrier at midnight to-night. In consequence of the delay her departure for the Great Barrier has been postponed until midnight to-morrow night, and her departure for Houhora and Northern ports until noon on Saturday.

NORTHUMBERLAND TO LOAD.— Leaving New Plymouth r on Saturday for Auckland, the Federal steamer Northumberland is due here next Monday to continue her loading for Home, under the agency of the New Zealand Shipping Company. From here the vessel proceeds to Gisborne, thence Waikokopu, Napier, Lyttelton, Wanganui and Wellington to complete and is scheduled to clear the last-mentioned port, on August 28 for London, via Panama. PORT HUON’S MOVEMENTS. —The C. and D. Line’s motor-ship Port Huon, now- completing her discharge of London cargo at New Plymouth, commences loading there and leaves on Friday for vv anganui, thence Lyttelton, Wellington, Napier. Waikokopu. Gisborne and Auckland to complete. She is due here 01 } August 20 and sails finally from this port on August 23 for New York. Boston and London, via Panama. The Farmers Cooperative Auctioneering Company will act as the local agents.

AORANGI’S PASSENGERS— In continuation of her voyage from Sydney, the Union Company’s R.M.M.S. Aorangi left Auckland shortly after 2 yesterdav afternoon for Suva, Honohilu, Victoria and Vancouver.
