WELLINGTON SUGGESTIONS PROPOSAL FOR CITY COUNCIL Press Association. WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Suggestions are being made here that Wellington and district should adopt a daylight saving scheme of its own. Cr. Mitchell, of the Wellington City Council, has given notice of his intention to move at the next meeting of the council: (1) That the Mayor convene a meeting of citizens to devise a daylight saving scheme throughout the city and environs, and that representatives of all public bodies and associations within thirty miles of Wellington be especially invited to attend witb a view to extending the scheme into these areas; (2) that the town clerk be instructed to take steps to apply this scheme to all functions and operations of the City Council. Mr. T. K. Sidey, in the House of Representatives to-night, made a suggestion whereby people in cities and towns could have the advantage of daylightsaving, despite the fact that it will be no longer legally in force. His idea was that the municipal bodies should take into consideration an amendment of the Municipal Corporations Act to deal with such difficulties as Arbitration Court awards that would bo affected by voluntary daylight saving, as well as the hours of shops and offices. He expressed the opinion that the Minister might take these matters into consideration in connection with the Municipal Corporations Act. He himself would give close attention to it.
