FIRE IN BOARDING-HOUSE

BRIGADE MAKES GOOD SAVE In regard to a report on Friday that a large boarding-house in Hurstmere Road, Takapuna, owned by Mr. W. Bamler, was completely destroyed by fire, the Mayor of Takapuna, Mr. J. W. Williamson, writes a denial, and says that residents consider that it was a good save by the Takapuna Fire Brigade. 'Tt will interest Takapuna ratepayers,” the letter continues, "to know that recently the Takapuna Borough Council has laid new four and fiveinch mains in Milford Road, Cecil Road Holiday Road and r rater Avenue for fire-fighting purposes, and in a trial to ascertain the pressure water was thrown to height of 1.0 feet so that fire in that area should now be coped with successfully."
