HOKIANGA DAIRY COY.

SATISFACTORY YEAR (Prom Our Own. Correspondent) KOHUKOHU, Tuesday. : The annual meeting of shareholders of f the llokianga Co-operative Dairy Company was held here this afternoon and was attended by fully 300 shareholders. 1 The chairman, Mr. W. Grounds, presided. Mr. Grounds congratulated the share - l holders on the season's operations. Not- ; withstanding a slight decline, which was inevitable on account of the dry spell, the season’s output proved that suppliers were taking up dairying as a great business proposition. Prices on the whole had been satisfactory. The chairman referred to the high level of the grading of cream. A great deal was due to the efficiency of the factory staff and equipment. Last season for the first time the factory had worked right throughout the winter, and this would be the regular procedure in future. Speaking of the future requirements of the company, Mr. Grounds referred to the action of the directors in deciding to build a concrete dam at Motukarara to ensure an adequate supply of water. The directors had decided upon the purchase of the dam watershed. It was the intention to start a canvass for a group herd-test-ing organisation. Referring to the balance sheet, Mr. Grounds said the directors were making arrangements to pay an intermediate bonus of 23d a lb butter-fat for the whole season. A final bonus would be paid when all the butter in stock in London had been realised. The recent appreciation in London values made it clear that the final bonus payments would be considerably better than the balance sheet indicated, the value of stocks having been taken on a very conservative basis.
