PLENTY OF MONEY
PRISONER FACES FINE CHEERFULLY “Excuse me, give me a chance and I’ll try to keep off the booze. I'lf be all right if I knock off the booze.” With this plea Ernest Edward Cuthhertson Maxey, aged 47, pleaded guilty at the Police Court this morning to being disorderly while drunk in Queen Street yesterday. Maxey was further charged with breaking a prohibition order made against him three weeks ago: "Prisoner was outside the Town Hall blocking the traffic.” said Sub-Inspec-tor McCarthy. Maxey: I’ll take out an order. Mr. W. R. McKean, S.M.: You don’t need to, it’s already out. You are fined £2 on the first charge and £1 on the second. Maxey: That’s all right. I have plenty of money in the bank. Mr. McKean: Have you? T wish I had known that when I imposed the fine.
