JAPANESE WARSHIPS. —The Japanese warships Idzumo and Yakumo left Wellington for Auckland at 3 o’clock on Saturday afternoon. They are scheduled to arrive at 9 o’clock to-morrow morning and will berth at Queen’s Wharf.
TAINUI AT PANAMA. —The Shaw, Savill and Albion liner Tainui is reported to have reached Panama last Thursday, en route from New Zealand to Southampton and London. She was dispatched from Wellington on July 5.
KAITUNA AT SUVA. —The Kaituna reached Suva from Westport on Friday. After discharge of her coal cargo the vessel is to go to Walpole Island, via Noumea, to load a full cargo of guano for Auckland.
RIMUTAKA CLEARED COLON. —The New Zealand Shipping Company’s liner Rimutaka is reported to have cleared Colon last Wednesday in continuation of her voyage from Napier to London. Sh§ sailed from Napier on June 30.
* LAMB'S STEAMER OMANA. —The Lamb steamer Omana has been delayed at Gisborne by bad weather, and is now .due at Auckland on "Wednesday morning. She will load timber at Auckland, and then go to Dargaville and Hokianga *to fill up with timber for Australia.
SHANGHAI DUE TO-MORROW.— Formerly the Union Company’s steamer Karori, but now owned by the Chinese firm of Moller and Company, the Shanghai is due at Auckland this evening or to-morrow morning from "Westport with a
cargo of coal. She will bunker the Nanking (formerly the Wliangape) before both vessels and the Waipori leave for China.
PIRI WITH EXPLOSIVES. —With a cargo of explosives, the Nobel Explosive Company’s auxiliary schooner Plri arrived at Auckland this morning, anchor—ing off Motuihi to discharge the local portion of her cargo. The vessel sailed from Melbourne on July 20, and has thus made the voyage in 10 days. She will put out the remainder of her cargo at Westport and Greymouth. KINROSS WITH CASE OIL. To the local agency of Spedding, Ltd., the Sutherland Steamship Company’s steamer Kinross arrived on Saturday evening with a full cargo pf case oil and petroleum products from Texas. She berthed yesterday morning at Prince’s Wharf to‘unload the Auckland portion of her cargo. Her other discharging ports are Wellington, New Plymouth, Sydney, Newcastle, Rockhampton and Townsville. The vessel sailed from Port Arthur on June 16 and cleared Panama on June 25. Moderate weather prevailed until July IS. when stormy weather was encountered and gales from various directions were experienced until July 24. After the storm area was passed the weather was fine to port. This is the Kinross’s first visit to Auckland.

TOFUA LEAVES APIA.—The Union Company's Island steamer Tofua sailed from Apia at 5 o'clock on Saturday afternoon for Suva and Auckland. She is to clear Suva on Thursday and is due at Auckland next Monday. PHOSPHATES FROM RED SEA.—The steamer Ravenscar, 0,145 tons, has been chartered to load Red Sea phosphates early in August for New Zealand. She is owned by the British Dominion Shipping Company and her former name was the Pathan. KAWAU POSTPONED.—On account of the weather, the departure of the Northern Company’s steamer Kawau from Auckland for Kawau, Leigh and Manga - wai, has been' postponed till eight o'clock to-morrow morning - . The vessel was originally scheduled to sail this morning. MAHENO FROM SYDNEY.—Due at Auckland to-morrow forenoon from Sydney, the Union Company’s passenger steamer Maheno will later berth at the Central Wharf to land her passengers, mails and cargo. The vessel leaves Auckland at 11 «ym. next Friday on her return trip to Sydney.
THE CANADIAN HIGHLANDER.— According to advice received by the local office of the Canadian National Steamships, the Canadian Highlander left Wellington at seven o’clock yesterday morning for Auckland to complete loading for Canada. She is due here at noon to-rnor-row and the following day sails for New York, Boston and Montreal.
ELVER 1C DISCHARGING.—At present discharging a cargo of raw sugar at Chelsea, the Weir Line steamer Elveric is expected to complete about the end of the week and sails on Saturday for Westport for bunkers, thence N;xru Island to load phosphates for Australia or New Zealand. Messrs. Robert Millar and Company are the local agents.
MELBOURNE PASSENGER SERVICE. —The Union Company’s intercolonial steamer Manuka, now undergoing overhaul and survey at Port Chalmers, is to resume running in the Melbourne passenger and cargo service late in August. She is scheduled to leave Dunedin for Melbourne, via Lyttelton and Wellington, on August 23.
PAKEHA ARRIVING.—A further radio message received by L. D. Nathan and Company states that the Shaw, Savill and Albion steamer Pakeha is now expected to arrive in the stream at Auckland at midnight to-night from Liverpool. Tomorrow morning the vessel will berth at the Queen's Wharf to unload the local v£lii-° n +° f 11 e £ car =° before proceeding to Wellington, Lyttelton and Dunedin to complete. Later the Pakeha loads in New Zealand and returns to Auckland in September to fill up for New York, Boston and London.

AORANGI IN PORT.—An arrival in the stream at 6.25 o’clock this morning was the Union Company’s R.M.M.S. Aorangi from Sydney. After pratique was granted, the liner berthed at the Prince’s Wharf. The Aorangi sailed from Sydney on Thursday afternoon and experienced moderate weather for the run across the Tasman Sea. The following passengers arrived by the vessel: — First class; Miss E. CISCO.—The local office of the Union have been advised that the Maunganui is expected to arrive Wellington on Wednesday morning from San Francisco and wav ports and is now scheduled to sail at noon on Thursday for Sydney. KORA I FROM SUVA.—The local office of the Union Company have been advised by radio that the steamer Kaikorai. eii route from Sydney and Newcastle, via Suva, U expected to arrive at Auckland to-morrow evening. After discharge here, the vessel pays off and undergoes overhaul and survey at this port. TEKOA DELAYED.—The local office of the New Zealand Shipping Company advises that the steamer Tekoa has been further delayed and is now expected to arrive at Auckland next Monday from Gisborne to complete her loading. She is now scheduled to sail finally from Auckland on August S for New York, Boston anl London, via Panama. RANELLA THIS EVENING.—An arrival at Tiritiri at 7 o’clock this evening will be the Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Company’s tanker Ranella, from Balikpapan, via Wellington, to complete the discharge of her cargo of bulk oil. The vessel will berth at-Western Wharf tomorrow morning to discharge into the Shell Company’s tanks. AMERICAN AND AUSTRALIAN LINE.—The. N.Z. Shipping Company itdvises that the following Steamers are scheduled to sail from New York: The City of Batavia, to-day, for Aucklancl, Wellington, Lyttelton and Duuedin The Kazemba. on August 2S, for Lvitelton and Dunedin. She will berth at the King’s Wharf to-morrow and is scheduled to sail again at 3 o'clock the same afternoon for Niue Island and Apia, Samoa. In the United states the incerase is 135.000,000, equiyal*bt 17.5 per cent. Russia is now s second oil producer with <2,000,000 barrels, an increase of about 8,000,000 barrels compared with last year. Declines were recorded in Venezuela and Mexico, but Persia, with an output of 36.8 million barrels, showed an increase of 11,000,000 barrels or 42.5 per cent. TO REPLACE THE RIVERINA.—To replace their steamer Riverina, which became a total wreck near Gabo Island over 12 months ago, Huddart, Parker, Ltd., have ordered a new passengei motor vessel for the Australian trade. Negotiations lor procuring the vessel have been carried* out by Mr. Webb, a director of the company, who is due from London by the R.M.S. Mongolia, on July 23. Speaking of the new vessel, Mr. W. T. Appleton, chairman of directors of Huddart, Parker. Ltd., said that as yet details of the vessel were vague. It was known, however, that an ordtr had been placed with Messrs. Harland and "Wolff, Belfast. The vessel was to be a fast modern motor ship, larger than the Riverina, and an improvement in every respect to the Zealandia. The vessel would probably be launched in June or Julv next year, and be placed in commission the following October. In answer to an inquiry as to which route the vessel would be placed on, Mr. Appleton said that this had not yet been decided upon. The two new passenger steamers already ordered were urgentlv needed in the inter-State trade. It was probable that when the vessels reached ' v h° ie inter-State service would be re-arranged.
