We regret to have to chronicle the : death of Mr. Lyall, of Glen Eden, at the age of 62 years. Mr. Lyall, who died from that dreaded scourge, can.s cer, has been ill only for about three months. Although Mr. Lyall did not take any active part in our shows, he was well known to many as a kene breeder of White Leghorns and ■ \ ‘ ~ “Service—Sticcess ar Bert IvLarl shall's.

Black Orpingtons, and all will join in tendering sympathy to his sorrowing wife and family. Mr. W. Hart, president of the Hastings Poultry Club, is visiting Auckland this week. Mr. Hart had quite a number of exhibits in the Auckland show. , Fanciers will regret to hear that Mr. Belcher, Auckland, the well-known canary breeder and exhibitor, is at present laid up suffering from a nervous breakdown, which has necessitated his having to give up his hobby. Mr. Belcher’s retirement will be a distinct loss to the fancy, and all fanciers will join with us in wishing him a speedy recovery and a return to the fancy. Mr. Geo. H. Ambler, Glen Eden, will give a lecture on “Line Breeding.” from IYA Auckland, on Tuesday next. All will join with us in congratulating that well-known fancier, Mr. A. Wood (president of the N.Z. Waterfowl Club since its inception), on his being elected president of the Auckland Poultry-keepers’ Association, in place of Mr. R. J. Roberts, who, owing to pressure of business, has relinquished the position of president. Mr. H. W. Beck, late secretary New Zealand Utility oPultry Club, has received an inquiry from California for a pen of Black Orpingtons. Mr. Beck has on two previous occasions shipped Black Orpingtons to America. We hear that Mr. A. E. Wilson, Waimate, at one time a very prominent member of the N.Z. Utility Club, is intending rearing a large number of chicks this year with the idea of coming back again into the fancy. Miss Ambler, Glen Eden, has this week forwarded her winning Black Minorca cockerel, also two first-class Khaki Campbell drakes to Mrs. Grant, Clandeboye, South Canterbury.
