DOCTORS DIFFER

l-V«»m - - Lit-- .

MATRON AS ANAESTHETIST BREEZE AT BOARD MEETING (From Our Own Correspondent.) KAITAIA, Friday. It is unusual for doctors to differ in public but two did so yesterday at tli© meeting of the Mangonul Hospital Board when Dr. H. G. Bis, anaesthetist to tli© board, complained that the medical superintendent. Dr. Cameron, had been employing the • matron to give anaesthetics in major operations. This, he contended, was not in tho best interests of the patients. Only a qualified anaesthetist should be employed for all major surgical work. Dr. Cameron expressed himself as being perfectly satisfied with the matron as an anaesthetist.

Dr. Cameron, to Dr. Rix: What would you say* if I told you that I prefer her to you as an anaesthetistDr. Rix: I don’t mind, if you can also satisfy your board and the B.M.A. of that.

Dr. Cameron informed the board that his object had been to save tho fees involved in sending for Dr. Rix. A report’ is to be submitted to the Director-General of Health, who is to be % asked to give a ruling.
