FARMERS’ UNION AND DAIRY FARMERS OFFICERS FOR YEAR Press Association. WELLINGTON. To-day. At the Farmers’ Union Conference a motion that a political organisation bo set up outside the union for the purpose of putting into effect the political platform adopted by the conference was defeated by 36 votes to A request for amalgamation was received from tli© Dairy Farmers’ Union. Details for the proposed amalgamation were left in the hands of a special committee. Remits passed included an appeal to Uie Government to make better provision for workers’ homes in country districts; another urging the Government to immediately start reducing the departmental expenditure and do everything possible to curtail public expenditure; and a request that the principle of taxing divisible surplus of companies be abolished.
