ZOO DEATH ROLL

SEVERAL ANIMALS LOST Recent losses at the Auckland Zoo have included a female kudu, a male reind'eer, a female beaver and a Canadian tree porcupine. The porcupine is supposed to have died from old age. It is thought that the kudu had been worried by dogs, and this possibility is being dealt with. The other two deaths are being the subject of veterinary investigation. The two animals were recent arrivals and were not properly acclimatised. Many of the animals, especially those whose natural habitat is in warmer climes, have been suffering in the recent weather.
