AUCKLAND’S NEEDS
NEW CABLE TO WAIHEKE SECTIONS IN MOUNT ALBERT (THE SUN'S Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Wednesday. Provision has, according to the Hon. W. Nosworthy, who was recently questioned on the subject by Mr. J. A. Lee (Auckland East) been made for the laying of another cable between Auckland and Waiheke Island, thus improving facilities for communication by telephone. Mr. Lee greeted the announcement, made in the House to-day, with considerable joy, and stated that it was a change to receive a definite answer to a question. Another Auckland question touched upon was the price of building sections at Mount Albert, Mr. H. G. R. Mason having recently asked if land in Mount Albert, for the purpose of providing cheap building sections, could be acquired under the Housing - Act. The Minister’s reply was to the effect that acquisition of further land is not contemplated at present.
